Abstract

Body plethysmography is the most frequently used and unique as a method that allows the simultaneous measurement of lung capacity, volume and resistance. Body plethysmography has an important role in preoperative assessment and postoperative follow-up in patients who undergo bullectomy, lung volume reduction surgery (LVRS) or lung transplantation. Performing of this diagnostic test gives additional insight into the ventilatory function of respiratory system and represents useful test for all patients who need to undergo procedure of thoracic surgery. Also, it is useful test for all patients with disorders of respiratory system who undergo general anesthesia.
